
Up and Running mentors were excited to see the Lawrence Township School Foundation’s fitness program receive national recognition. Acting U.S. Surgeon General Rear Admiral Steven K. Galson presented the Lawrence Township School Foundation with a “Healthy Youth for a Healthy Future Champion Award”. The award recognizes programs throughout the nation that are addressing childhood obesity prevention by helping kids stay active. Dr. Galson presented the award on May 28th at a news conference at Douglas Park.

At 1:30 p.m. yesterday, Acting Surgeon General Rear Admiral Dr. Steven K. Galson presented the Foundation and the District with an award for our work in fighting childhood obesity through “My Community Gets Healthy”. He said during the presentation that “Your efforts can serve as a model for others anywhere in the country.” Dr. Galson noted that collaborative efforts in creating and executing a successful program were to be commended.
