Young NBA Player Mike Conley, Jr. Gives Back to His Community!

The Lawrence Township School Foundation is pleased to announce that former Lawrence North High School basketball player and current starting guard for the NBA Memphis Grizzlies, Mike Conley, Jr., has donated $15,000 to the Lawrence Township School Foundation for the support of their nationally recognized “My Community Gets Healthy” program.  Read the rest of this entry »

Up & Running update

Up & Running is kicking off for fall semester!  The after-school fitness program will be in all Lawrence Township elementary, middle & high schools.  The students train 2 days after school with the help of teachers and parent mentors, and students train an extra day on their own.  Some schools have already started training, and others will begin the week of 10/27.  The culminating activity will be the Jingle Bell Run on December 13th. School contacts are listed below, so if you are interested in volunteering please contact the staff mentors directly.

Geist Half Announcement

Geist Half Donates $20,000 to Local Schools

Proceeds from the inaugural Geist Half Marathon came in higher than expected thanks to a sold-out field and great sponsor support. This week, the Geist Half Marathon board of directors announced that $20,000 from the inaugural race will be split evenly between the Hamilton Southeastern School Foundation and the Lawrence Township School Foundation earmarked for health and wellness programs within their school systems.”The local support we received was fantastic, we’re anxious to do it again next year,” said Vince Auten, Vice President of the Geist Half Marathon Inc.

The 2009 race will be held on Saturday, May 16th utilizing the same course as last year’s run.
